Parks and Pathways Nordic Walking News Salford, Didsbury and Manchester 12th Dec 17

Well thanks to the weather over the last 7 days there has been very little Nordic Walking! Only the Salford Quays Workout Walk and the Friday 3 mile Adventure Walk at Dukes Drive, Monton went ahead. It was good to welcome Marilyn on her first Adventure Walk and the post walk brew at The Waterside was very welcome.

Saturday’s Workout Walk at the newly reopened Clifton Country Park was also going ahead as snow wasn’t forecast until later in the morning… however having parked up.. the snow came early and heavy and I had to take the decision to abandon the session before we started. We then spent the next hour working out in a slightly different way pushing cars back up the hill, trying not to skid and hoping the tractor with the trailer of manure which had got stuck ahead of some of us on the hill didn’t tip up and lose the load!  Thanks to Miriam, Alison, Wynne, Elena and Bernie for staying positive… you were magnificent…and Ruth… you made the right decision to turn back at the last minute. Let’s hope this Saturday is less eventful. If in doubt park at the top on the main road and walk down.

This Friday its Heaton Park at 1.30 with a pre walk lunch at 12.30. NOTE: This is a different meeting point car park to previous walks at Heaton Park.

Monday’s Adventure Walk is a repeat of the lovely Chorlton Water Park and Kenworthy Woods walk and the final Friday Adventure Walk before Xmas is at Wythenshawe Park.

Don’t forget there are also TWO WEEKS of Thursday and Saturday Workout Walks left before Xmas too….

NEW YEAR’s treat  –  I’d like to offer all my  NWUK Freedom Passport holders 1 free Adventure OR Wellbeing OR Workout Walk as a little Christmas present from me… The free walk session must be taken between Saturday 30th December 2017 and Monday 15th January 2018 inclusive. Please contact me by email or text/phone to let me know which walk you want as your free walk so I know to expect you. Once you’ve picked your session it’s fixed and not transferable if you are unable to make it.

HELP REQUIRED – If you can help me spread the word and get new members during 2018 that would be really appreciated. Is there someone you could encourage to come and learn, or could you display a poster somewhere where lots of people will see it? Or is there a group you belong to that may like to have a taster session? If you follow me on Facebook (@parksandpathwaysnordicwalking) could you share my posts/page with your friends? If you follow me on Twitter (@PPNordicWalkUK) could you retweet my tweets?
